On Monday May 31st at 10am SUVCW Sr. Vice Cmdr. Bill Pollard will lead a delegation from Lt. Cmdr. Edward Lea, Camp 2, in the placement of 34-star U.S. flags/roses at the graves of Union Civil War veterans followed by doing the same at nearby Civil War Veterans’ graves. The starting location will be at the Grand Army of the Republic Plot in the Washington Cemetery (located in the Glenwood Cemetery on Washington Avenue in Houston).
Subsequently, Bro. Pollard will lead our procession to the Grand Army of the Republic plot in the adjacent Glenwood cemetery where we will place new 34-star U.S. flags/roses on the graves in that plot and on the resting places of other Civil War Veterans as we exit the Glenwood Cemetery.
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and thanking our veterans for their service and sacrifice. The Wreaths Across America mission is to “Remember, Honor, and Teach”. We fulfill that mission by laying a live Maine remembrance wreath upon the grave-sites of our fallen heroes. Houston Wreath Day is Saturday, December 14th, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Houston National Cemetery. Once again, Camp Lea will join the wreath laying.
The Wreathes Across America website is up and running. Please log into www.waahouston.com , choose the button marked “Donation to Fundraiser” (Team or Person) and then “Find a Person”. Our “person” is Edward Lea Camp 2.
