Membership in Camp 2 is open to any descendant or history enthusiast dedicated to honoring Union veterans of the Civil War. We welcome lineage members who can trace their ancestry to a Union soldier, sailor, or marine, as well as associate members who simply share our passion for local history preservation. Official Membership Requirements & Eligibility
Per our national bylaws, official membership options are structured into the following categories:
- Hereditary Membership (Member & Junior): Open to male descendants (ages 14+ for Members, 6–14 for Juniors) who can trace their lineage directly back to a soldier, sailor, marine, or member of the Revenue Cutter Service who served honorably in the Union Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or Revenue Cutter Service during the Civil War, or who died in such service.
- Associate Membership: Open to male history enthusiasts (ages 14+) who do not have a proven Union ancestor but demonstrate a deep interest in the Civil War, support the mission of the SUVCW, and are committed to preserving Union veteran heritage.
The Sons of Veterans Reserve (SVR) is the ceremonial uniformed military element of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The SVR consists of a General Staff and several military districts across the nation. Overseen by the National Military Affairs Committee of the SUVCW, SVR units participate in ceremonies, parades, living history programs, and re-enactments. Membership in the SVR is limited to SUVCW members only, and all members are welcome to join.
