Memorial Day at Glenwood Cemetery

On May 30, 1886 the first observance of Decoration Day by the Grand Army of the Republic members of the McClellan Post was conducted at the Glenwood Cemetery complex in Houston.

140 years later, on May 25, 2026, the Brothers of Camp 2 and Sisters of the Allied Orders will answer that same call of duty to remember those who fought for a cause greater than themselves and kept this country together for us to enjoy and prosper in today.

Setup beginning at 12:00 Noon
Honor Guard assembly at 1:00 pm
Ceremony begins at 2:00 pm

The public is welcome and we invite you to join us.

If other eyes grow dull and other hands slack, and other hearts cold in the solemn trust, ours shall keep it well as long as the light and warmth of life remains in us.

General John Logan
Commander-in-Chief
Grand Army of the Republic
