The Graves Registration Mission
The goal of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) National Grave Registration Project is to locate the final resting places of all Union Civil War Veterans, and enter that information into the National Graves Registration Database. This undertaking is rather large and needs as many interested people to assist as possible.
As with any project such as this, considerable fieldwork will be needed to obtain the information that will eventually be placed into the National database.
Local Involvement
Our Camp 2 and Department of TX and LA Graves Registration Officer, Brother Terry Sutton, has personally added over 2,000 entries to the database . Brother Sutton is also an Assistant National Graves Registration Officer coordinating the activities of members throughout the Department and the entire Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War organization.
Our members are dedicated to historical preservation, and we can show you exactly how to register a Civil War veteran grave using official guidelines. By joining our local efforts, you can help uncover long-forgotten stories and map out Union veteran burials in Texas and Louisiana, and all over the United States.
